WERK & SCHOLING (Work & Education)
Fifteen paintings in an office reception, Arnhem,
The Netherlands, 1999

PICTURE-BOOK
Acrylic on canvas, each painting 60 x 60 cms.

The waitingroom of the foundation Work & Education was
not the most pleasant place to be for its visitors.
They were primarily long unemployed people, who were
often forced to follow classes to be educated into
a new job.

For this commission I made fifteen paintings, recognizable like pictures in waiting room magazines. Each painting represents an aspect of our society, like culture, science, sports, religion etc.
Although painted in a realistic style, the images have enough interpretation possibilities left to stimulate the fantasy of the waiting visitors.
